Earn A Bike Program
Time Commitment: at least 3x per quarter for quarters 1-3 (September – mid-March)
Classroom volunteers are partnered with a 4th-grade class and will walk students through their journey towards earning a bike. Volunteers are responsible for leading their class through the Earn A Bike Curriculum, which primarily focuses on health and wellness. Volunteers also keep track of students’ points and communicate with the teacher.
Bike Mechanic or Bike Repair Assistant
Time Commitment: Saturdays, 9-11 am, scheduled during fall and spring months (on hold during Covid. *Volunteers are not required to attend all bike repairs.)
Volunteering with our Bike Repair Program is perfect for folks that enjoy working with their hands. These volunteers will spend their time repairing bikes for students and community members. Volunteers may also help check-in bikes and make sure they go to the right person once repaired. Whether you’re an expert bike mechanic or just comfortable putting air in tires, all are welcome!
Bike Build
Time Commitment: Bike Builds are typically 2.5-3 hour events and are scheduled in late April/early May.
Bike Builds are when we come together to build the bikes that have been earned by our hard-working 4th grades from our Earn A Bike Program over the school year. All are welcome to join – no need to be experienced!
General Volunteering & One Time Events
For folks who aren’t sure exactly what they want to do but would love to be involved.
This may include unloading bikes when our shipment arrives, unboxing bikes, helping set up for bike distribution at the end of the year, or helping with administrative work. Please reach out if you have any specific questions as we would love to help get you plugged in!
